A Depart from White Feminism

Ignoring the differences of race between women and the implications of those differences presents the most serious threat to the mobilization of women’s joint power — Audre Lorde

Learning and listening is a part of my daily practice to be anti-racist. Because it is exactly that—a daily practice, a practice I have attempted to incorporate into my design work.

In this explainer video, I examined my own feminism as a white person and how I have leaned on it as a way to blind myself from other injustices. We need to think about how intersectionality (Kimberlé Crenshaw) can strengthen feminism. Because joint female power is stronger than the individual. And all women deserve to be fought for. Research sources: Kimberlé Crenshaw, Audre Lorde, Rachel Cargle, and Mikki Kendall.
